The game picks one. They are alternatives, in the order it prefers them.

A new face! I hope you're more interesting than these stupid slaves.

The game picks one of these replies at random:

One of the random replies

I wish I could go to the city more often. Most people that come here are so unrefined.

One of the random replies

I like those Nayyar from the Sazziad Empire. They have such exotic stories to tell!

One of the random replies

I'm bored. The slaves aren't fun anymore... they got used to beatings and don't even flinch when I hit them.

What the player can raise (4)

The game offers every topic whose requirement is met, in the order it prefers them.

  • Farewell.

If you ever come back, please have something interesting to tell me. I don't like boring people.

  • Who are you?

Isn't it obvious? I'm the plantation master's daughter. Or do you see any other young, well-dressed, beautiful women around? Who did you think I was, some stupid worker? *She rolls her eyes.*

    The conversation ends

  • You seem eager for entertainment. Not much to do here?

Not much at all! Father brings me books when he comes back from the city, but they only last me a day or two. I'm too quick at reading... say, did you know there are people who can't read? I tried to get a slave to read my favorite book, but he just looked at it with his big dumb eyes!

I liked the workers we had before better. They at least had some things to talk about. But they took wages and the slaves don't, so they're cheaper. At least we can beat them. It's so funny when they flinch, I just have to glare at them and they think they're in trouble!

Recently, we've had more merchants from the Sazziad Empire coming here. I like them. They tell interesting stories, and usually dress nice. It's so rare to meet people with good fashion sense here. I wish I could go to Norakoji more often, but father doesn't let me.

    • You could help out with the work. Certainly less boring than doing nothing.

Work? *She scoffs.* Like a servant? Don't be ridiculous! I know how to work the machines better than those imbecilic slaves, of course, but my soft hands are far too precious to be wasted on labor.

      Returns to the previous choices

    • You had different workers before?

*She nods.* Educated craftsmen. Not well-read, but at least they could read, unlike the empty-headed buffoons we have now. Father always reminded me to be respectful to them, even though they were far below us.

The good thing about these slaves is that we can treat them with the disdain they deserve. Worthless lot! There's not a single intelligent word out of their mouths, and when we got them they didn't even know how to work our machines. It took a lot of beatings before father managed to drill it into them.

Sometimes I wish I could beat some eloquence into their heads, but it feels like they only get dumber the more I hit them.

    • You get a lot of Sazziad merchants down here?

Some. I think they found out we sell the best quality Wazumo silk here and want to bring it back home to make beautiful garments from. Have you seen what Sazziad women wear? It's so elegant! I love their flowing fabrics and their thin sandals and all the jewelry they wear!

Father says he'll buy me lots of Sazziad jewelry when his next deal comes through. I'm so excited! That's gonna make me the best-dressed woman in all of Gan! They'll envy me even in Norakoji!

    • You get a lot of Sazziad merchants down here?

Some. Are you a merchant too? Talk to father if you want to buy our silk. And please give him some trinkets from your homeland! Almost nobody out here has Sazziad things, it makes us so special when the merchants gift us some!

Everyone always complains about the Sazziad invading our lands and tainting our culture, but I think you Nayyar are pretty nice. Those other people are just jealous they can't afford your exotic imports. Commoners are always jealous of everything. It's not our fault we're better than them!

    • Why doesn't your father let you go to Norakoji?

He says it's dangerous there, especially with all the immigrants outside the city walls. Lots of criminals around. Gangs that abduct young women like me to sell them into slavery. I've never seen anything like that when I went to Norakoji.

I think father is just worried because no other women are as beautiful as me, so they're always jealous and disrespectful. Last time I went to Norakoji, some ugly commoner called me a sellout and spat on my feet. My feet!

I paid someone to hunt her down and beat her up, but he couldn't find her. Of course, I threw that shoe away immediately and bought a new one. Disgusting commoner spit. Who do they think they are, treating their betters like that?

    • I have other questions.

I'd rather you tell me an interesting story for a change, but alright.

      The conversation ends

Only when the game's own check passes. The compendium cannot name what it reads (Graph Variable).

  • Why are you so rough on the slaves?

Because they're stupid! And boring! And some of them mutter weird chants while they work, doubtlessly some sinister bone charmer stuff. Those are creepy. I only beat them with a stick, don't dare touch them with my hands.

There's one slave who likes to tend to the Wazumo. He's really stupid, but I don't hate him. I caught him eating slop once, like some disgusting animal. Gave him a push and he fell face first into the slop pile. I had to laugh when he looked at me with that dirty face, and then he laughed too! That was funny, so I like him now.

But there's one woman I don't like at all. She's always complains about how bad she has it here. What does she expect? She's a lowly slave, she should be happy we give her food and shelter! Out in the wild she'd be eaten by beasts or killed by bandits.

She doesn't even deserve the little we give her. Father makes her tend the Wazumo because she's too stupid to operate the machines. One time, she almost broke a loom. Luckily, she only broke her fingers. Those aren't worth as much.

I beat her a lot, but that barely helps. She works a little harder right after a beating, but then it's back to being useless. Speaking of... could you go and beat her up for me? I'm too lazy to go out now. *She shows you a grin.* Make sure you tell her it's from me!

    • I'm not going to beat a slave for you.

*She rolls her eyes, annoyed.* Pffsh! You're no fun.

      The conversation ends

    • Sounds fun! I'll give her a good beating for you, just you watch.

Oh, I'll be sure to watch! Maybe I can learn some new techniques from you!

    • Anything to make the useless wretch work a little harder.

I'm glad you see it that way, too. I'll put in a good word with father if you manage to make her work harder!
