The game picks one. They are alternatives, in the order it prefers them.
Only after the player has spoken to the speaker
*The stout elf stands behind the counter and greets you with vigor.* An outlander, eh? What brings you out to my cookery? Are you the honest traveler-type or the mischievous transient-type?
My intentions are neutral. I was lured here by a delicious smell.
*The {Karu} smiles in contentment.* That, I believe. Got anything for me to cook?
The conversation ends
What type do I look like to you?
You look like the type that'd rather enjoy a delicious meal paid in full than sit weeping and hungry in a {Garkai} jail cell.
The conversation ends
[Lie.] I'm as honest as they come - swear to the three moons.
Requires a Low check of Speech
I'll take you at your honor. Hopefully you have some.
The conversation ends
I'm the type that minds my business as long as you mind yours.
*The {Karu} smiles in contentment.* As long as you don't go starting trouble, that suits me just fine. Got anything for me to cook?
The conversation ends
Only when the speaker's routine sets the authored flag
What can I do for you today?
Only when the speaker's routine sets the authored flag
What do ya' want? This is {Oba} time.
What the player can raise (4)
The game offers every topic whose requirement is met, in the order it prefers them.
Only when the speaker's routine sets the authored flag
I'd like to order some food.
Now you're talking!
- Opens the merchant's stock
You're welcome in advance!
The conversation ends
Your loss, {kamera}! *The elf says with his usual boisterous humor.*
The conversation ends
What can you tell me about you?
The conversation forks on what the game checks, in this order:
Only when the player stands GreaterOrEqualTo Neutral with the speaker
Only the first time
I grew up in {Garkai} all my life. Learned very early on that I had much more of an interest in cooking the fish than catching 'em. I love bringing the fauna and flora of the {Nakibani} to the grill, and finding new ways to mix it with herbs from our gardens and catches from our nets.
Besides, it's no secret that I can't choke down anything these other bums cook. *uck!* Been the family cook since I was a young elf ... been making my way off it ever since {the elders} let me set up my hut.
That pretty much brings us to present day.
The conversation ends
What, you didn't listen the first time? *The elf sighs playfully and laughs with his words.* Okay. You want the long version or the short version?
The short version will do.
*The elf exhales his usual chuckle.* I cook a great meal, and I don't get into the politics of it. As long as your weapon stays sheathed and I get due payment, I don't care where your allegiance lies. You could be a talking {karuntak} for all I care.
The conversation ends
I'm quite partial to the long version.

Well, [player], like I was sayin' last time, I grew up in Garkai all my life. Learned very early on that I had much more of an interest in cooking the fish than catchin'em. I love bringing the fauna and flora of the {Nakibani} to the grill, and finding new ways to mix it with herbs from our gardens and catches from our nets.
I've been cookin' for everyone since I was young to save 'em from the impalatable mess they try to pass as cooking ...when I first wanted to provide a formal service, the elders weren't too fond of the idea, but over time I got it out of 'em. My hut's been here since, feedin' any generous mouth that passes through.

Actually, I just remembered!
Well, good. Is there anything else I can do for you?

What do you like to cook?
If I can season it and put it over a fire, I'm willing to try my hand at it. I do have my specials of course.
