The game picks one. They are alternatives, in the order it prefers them.

Only after the player has spoken to the speaker

You again? Make it quick, please? - nothing personal ... it's just bad business getting too close with the {vemani}.

Only after the player has spoken to the speaker

Hm. More travelers. huh?

  • A traveler, indeed.

Well, great. I hope you find your way to the {market} well, sir / miss. My name's {Retsobu}; I'll be around if you have any questions.

    The conversation ends

  • *Chuckle with confidence.* You could call me a professional traveler.

You must have some exciting stories, then. You'll have to check out the market while you're in {Garkai}.

    The conversation ends

  • More of a wilderness traveler, just stopping in for supplies.

*The {Karu} laughs playfully.* You seem the type of [player_shortrace]. Strong as a {yanaki}, tough as {blue steel}!

I bet you'd love some of the armor at the {Garkai Market}. Name's {Retsoubu Tsuki}, I'll be around if you need anything.

    The conversation ends

  • Aye. I love to travel and overcome new elements.

Requires a Low check of Endurance

  • No. Not by choice, anyway.

We all have our trials, I suppose ...

If you're tired, there's plenty of food and drink at the {Garkai Market} up in the {Sherus}. Pay a visit, all types of currencyare welcome.

What the player can raise (6)

The game offers every topic whose requirement is met, in the order it prefers them.

Only when the speaker's routine sets the authored flag

  • What do you do around here?

I'm an apprentice shipwright at the moment. It's a lot of splinters and heavy lifting, but when I see those boats glide across the lake every day ... well, you do what you gotta do.

The {Tsukis} have been building these boats for centuries.

    The conversation ends

Only when the speaker's routine sets the authored flag

  • You build ships here?

I'm an apprentice shipwright at the moment. It's a lot of splinters and heavy lifting, but when I see those boats glide across the lake every day ... well, you do what you gotta do.

The {Tsukis} have been building these boats for centuries.

    The conversation ends

  • You mentioned a market?

Right here in the {Tsuki} district!

You'll see the shops built on and under one the great {Sherus}. Weapons, armaments, potions, food, drink, you name it, we sell it.

    The conversation ends

  • What can you tell me about {Garkai}?

The conversation forks on the graph-variable check:

    If True

What do you want to know? It all seems so ordinary to me, I don't know where to begin.

    • What is there to do around here?

Well, I already told you about the market, then there's {Oba's} kitchen, better than the communal kitchen in my personal opinion. There's a bar if that's your thing. If you're more the peaceful type, plenty of fish to be caught in the lake.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • How do you feel about the schism?

I like some {Sakos} and {Ekiros} more than others. I don't think about it much, if I'm being honest. I'm ususally so busy in the workshop anyway.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • The master shipwright really works you <b>that</b> hard, huh?

Oh yeah. From the crack of dawn until the crickets start chripin'. Boats don't get built overnight, and if the {Sakos} don't have boats, no more roast fish at the market - can't have that, now.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • How does a young {Karu} such as yourself court here? Being the same tribe and all ...

*The young {karu} turns bright red.* We're part of the same history, not all of the same bloodline.

The conversation forks on the graph-variable check:

      If True

And as much as I appreciate the advance miss, I happen to have my eye on someone else; nothing against you, of course, you're a very attractive [player_race]. I'm just an old-fashioned romantic, I suppose.

      • [Find the naivety endearing.] *Smile widely.* Thanks for letting me down easy.

*He scratches his neck nervously.* Haha! Yeah, no problem... was there uh, anything else I could help you with?

        Returns to an earlier point

      • Woah, woah! Huge misunderstanding!

*His face flushes a deep red.* I apologize; I must have misread the situation, but moving on from this error... was there anything else you needed?

        Returns to an earlier point

      • You're... <i>sure</i> about this?

*His face flushes a deep red, and his eyebrows raise almost to the crown of his head.* Uh, um, yes! Q - quite certain! ...Ahem! *He clears his throat uncomfortably.* Was there, uh, anything else you wanted to talk about?

        Returns to an earlier point

      • *Put your head down and shake it side to side.*
      • [Genuine disappointment.] Oh... well... who's the lucky {Karu}?

*{Retsobu} smiles coyly.* She's an {Ekiro}; a hunter - very knowledgeable on the {Nakibani} and believe me, you'd never outshoot her. I've never seen her let an arrow fly that didn't hit its target.

She can be a little abrasive at first, but once you get past that; she's really somethin' special ... - *He seems to snap out of some sort of daze* - BUT! Listen to me talkin' yer' horns / tusks off. I'm sure you have better things to do.

Was there anything else you needed?

        Returns to an earlier point

      If False

In fact, I happen to have my eye on someone right now, so I assure you, we have no problems courting in {Garkai}.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • That's all for now.

      Hope it helped.

      The conversation ends

    If False

That's a pretty broad subject, and I'm busy, stranger. Maybe some other time if you stick around ...

    The conversation ends

  • See you around, {Retsobu}.

The conversation forks on the graph-variable check:

    If True

    {Antezoru}, sir / miss.

    The conversation ends

    If False

    If you say so, {vemani}.

    The conversation ends

Only when the conversation's own flag luckyKaru is set

  • So. Who's the lucky Karu?

*{Retsobu} smiles in a way he clearly can't hold back.* Her name is Shichi. She's a hunter, an {Ekiro}. She happens to be very knowledgeable on the {Nakibani} and extremely talented with a bow.

She can be a little abrasive at first, but that's just a shield; she's a beautiful and compassionate heart, but - *He seems to snap out of some sort of daze* - listen to me talking. I'm sure you have better things to do.

Was there anything else you needed?

The conversation forks on the graph-variable check:

    If True

    • I've met {Shichi}! I knew she was kinder than she was letting on.

Requires a Medium check of Psychic Magic

*The young elf's tone is one of disbelief.* You got that out of an encounter with {Shichi Ekiro}? A first impression, no less? You either tell a great story or have a magic way with people.

      • Changes how the speaker feels about the player

      The conversation ends

    • Ah, yes, {Shichi}. An icy exterior, but within: an apparent heroic radiance. Quite hard to forget.

    • We've met, actually. She seems driven.

      To say the least.

Sometime's stubborn is more the appropriate word; but, yes. She is a proud, driven {Karu}. No matter what she says, though, know her intentions are in the right place.

She'd never hurt anything that wasn't a threat to the city...

      The conversation ends

    • From my experience: better you than me.

*{Retsobu} grins nervously.* Oh, you must've already met. As I said, she can be a bit abrasive to {vemani} and {viatiru} alike, but she means well.

      The conversation ends

    If False
