Only while The Missing Caravan is succeeded

*A short, blustery elf shouts at you from one of the kiosk-like shops built into the base of the great tree.* Hey! You there! Come here a spell! There's coin in it for ya'!

I'm expecting a caravan this way, they're carrying a large, custom order for a very important client; trouble is, they were supposed to be here quite some time ago.

I fear somethin's happened to 'em. If you'd be interested in making some coin, there'd be a fair deal of it for anyone that tracked them down. I'd even throw in a discount for ya'!

If True

  • Wait. Are you {Edo}? ... Is this {"Edo's Oddities and Armaments"}?

That's me! You've heard of me, then? Or at least my amazing selection?

Only while the quest holds the authored value

    • [Return shipment] I assumed this belonged to someone when I found it with those lowlifes by the river.

You found this with bandits? *The elf sighs.* Then I can only imagine what's become of the caravan ... maybe I don't want to know.

I can reminisce later ... you did me a service.

Thank you for recovering my belongings. You have no idea how much this would've set me back ...

That said, I can probably throw in a decent discount for you here at the shop.

    • [Return shipment] I've already found the bandits and made sure they won't be an issue any longer. And guess what else they had?
    • [Return shipment] I found this shipment of weapons at a bandit camp. It bares the name of your shop.

Good. I hope the {Nakabani} picks their bones clean ... I'm certain my caravan shares a similar fate ...

*The elf sighs.* Thank you for recovering my belongings. You have no idea how much this would've set me back ...

That said, I can probably throw in a decent discount for you here at the shop.

    • [Steal shipment] I already took care of the bandits ... unfortunately it was too late to get your shipment back.

Such a shame ... that's gonna set me back a bit. Still, I appreciate all the trouble you went through. It's not an easy task to dig through the {Nakabani} for one missing caravan.

      Thank you, {Viasha}.

    • [Return shipment] Do you mean this dumb box of metal I've been lugging around since I ran into those bandits? Take it, please.

I do, in fact, mean that dumb bundle of rare and precious arms. Where did you find this!

      • It seems it was a group of bandits in the woods.

*The elf takes a grave tone.* You're sure, then? Damn those {vemani} ... May they suffer a thousand deaths ...

        Thank you for your honesty.

What the player can raise (8)

The game offers every topic whose requirement is met, in the order it prefers them.

Only while the quest is at the authored phase

  • Tell me more about your missing caravan.

Sure . Ask anything—anything that'll help, that is.

    • What supplies were you expecting?

It was a shipment of rare arms—incredibly expensive. The client paid in advance, and I've already spent that on upkeep..

      Returns to an earlier point

    • Which way were they coming from?

Had they arrived, it would have been at the {east entrance} of {Garkai}. Next to the {mage shops}.

      Only the first time

      • Marks the map

      Returns to an earlier point

    • Maybe the caravan made off with your expensive and rare shipment?

Not a chance. I've known most of those {Viasha} for years. They've handled orders of similar caliber and value before ... I wouldn't trust just anyone with this.

I'm open to most ideas ... but I'm afraid that's not one of them.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • What was your last communication with them? And when, for that matter.

Last communication was days ago ...I got word they were crossing the {Nakibani} en route to {Garkai} from the loading site, which is confidential, of course—completely secret.

      Only the first time

      Returns to an earlier point

    • Who was this client?

      Only the first time

That's not for you to know. / , miss. This whole process has been very closed and private.

      Returns to an earlier point

      I'm sorry, but I really can't say.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • You keep many secrets for a man trying to solve a mystery.

I'm reluctantly asking for assistance, but I can't disclose the buyer's identity.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • That's all for now.

      Hope it helped.

      The conversation ends

  • I have questions about my next task.

    All right.

    • Who was it I was supposed to speak to?

{Hazure Ekiro}. He's a guard here—usually on patrol duty. You'll find him eventually if you check the paths and city exits.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • What's a {disciple in armor}?

The conversation forks on the graph-variable check:

      If True

*Edo continues his laugh.* What do you mean?! It's {Hazure}! You've met him! But seriously ...

A {disciple in armor} is a name {Karus} in {Garkai} give to {Ekiros} that don't quite fit in with their kin. {Hazure} being a perfect example.

A sensitive and gullible kid that would be much better suited for life at the {temple}.

      Returns to an earlier point

      If False

*Edo continues his laugh.* Once you meet you {Hazure} it will all make sense! But seriously ...

Continues where this conversation already went

    • Why doesn't {Hazure} join the temple?

It's not really that easy for anyone. Especially not {Ekiros}.

Every family has its own tradition. The tribes all "worship" the {Dreamer}, sure, but that doesn't mean they want their son or daughter to spend their life serving it.

My parents wanted me to own a business in the market, the {Sakos} teach their kids to fish and work the boats, and the {Ekiros} are trained to hunt and defend.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • What make's {Hazure} any different from the rest of the guards?

He's helpful to a fault. Before ever questioning who you are or your motives, he'll tell you everything you need to know. So long as you ask nicely.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • What should I do if I find who attacked your caravan?

Whatever you see fit, as long as they don't remain out in the forest attacking folk.

You could go toe to toe with 'em, but if you're more of a sleuth than a fighter, I'm sure Elder {Azasumi}, would take the camp down if he knew exactly where it was.

      Returns to an earlier point

    • That's all I needed for now.

      No problem, stranger.

      The conversation ends

  • You must be {Edo} ... I found your note ... in the wreckage of a caravan.

Wreckage?! Were there any signs of survivors?

    • Unfortunately, none that I saw.

What a terrible misfortune ... By my ancestors, what am I going to do ... I must locate that missing shipment and find whoevers responsible for this.

I'd compensate you for your time if you'd be willing to do a bit more digging on my behalf. Please let me know of any details you find.

The conversation forks on the graph-variable check:

      If False

      • Of course, just leave it to me.

*The {karu} smiles bleakly.* At least maybe we can get the {iramata} that did this ...

Thank you for recovering my belongings. You have no idea how much this would've set me back ... it wouldn't have ruined me! Nothing ruins ol' {Edo} but ... —*the elf groans at the thought*—would it have ever set me back.

That said, I can probably throw in a decent discount for you here at the shop.

I do, in fact, mean that dumb bundle of rare and precious arms my caravan just died defending.

*The elf takes a deep breath.* No matter how ignorant your view or how poor your social skills, you've completed the job and offered me closure. Thank you, {vemani}.

    • No. They were dead.

*The elf stares a moment, overcome by the frankness of this statement.* By my ancestors ... I must locate that missing shipment and find the people responsible for this. You'd, of course, be compensated for any time spent and work accomplished. Please let me know if you found out anything else.

Continues where this conversation already went

    • I didn't check pulses, but they were laying pretty still.

*The elf is visibly upset by this remark but quickly forgets about it in light of the newly found tragedy.* I get the picture. We don't get many elves / dwarves stone-cold enough to take moonlight strolls through the {Nakibani}.

If you can speak with more respect for the dead, I'd pay you handsomely to find the scum that did this to my caravan. I'll be here if you find any more details.

Only when the conversation's own flag whatNow is set

  • What should I do now?

I would ask the guards what they've seen and heard, but since you're considered {vemani}, the guards will likely not want to give you information.

So, my advice is to seek the guard, {Hazure}. He's definitely a {disciple in armor}! *Edo laughs hysterically at what is apparently his own joke.*

      • Even the sky weeps ...

Well put, outsider ... Surely that's why such fresh air tastes so bitter ...

*The elf wipes a small tear from the corner of his eye.* Well then, we should talk about official business.

About my shipment. Did you find it at the base of these bandits?
