*Ishi points and gawks at the ruined beacon. Laughing hysterically in disbelief.*
[player]! That was brilliantly done! Here - take this! You’ve more than earned it, every bit of it.

Though, it's time I returned to the plains - best not linger and draw unwanted eyes.

I'm listening. Tell me the plan.

So - a few months back, I was walking the Craigs on a clear night when I heard it - that unmistakable hum of Moon Crystal, coming from the ruins of the old Arohari Temple.
I climbed up the plateau and snuck around the outer walls until I came to the main tower of the complex.
Sure enough - up in the window I see a bizarre purple glow - bright, potent. I know it was a Moon Crystal - a big one at that.
Secure that crystal, set it in the fuel pump - and once the moons hang in the sky - boom. The beacon will all but destroy itself.
Only when the player carries
[Show raw Moon Crystal] You mean this?
Ha! I knew you had luck on your side!
Now that you have that, all we have to do is toss it in the fuel pump.
The conversation forks on the graph-variable check:
If True
You won't want to do it now, but come first thing in the morning, sneak down into the beacon's cellar, and drop that in.
After that, we let the Moon Crystal take over. Once the moons rise, the crystals energy will trigger the fuel in the pump to combust.
Then we sit back and watch the fireworks.

We'll want to do it now, while we have some daylight left.

Then we sit back and watch the fireworks.
I understand the plan. I'll go to the Temple and retrieve the Moon Crystal.
Very good. Now, give me just a few more moments. You'll want to head far north, almost to Ishgana.
Eventually, you'll see a large ruin atop a high plateau. In the plains, its really hard to miss.
Good luck. I'm counting on you. Report back when you have the Moon Crystal.

Why isn't the Temple land owned by Arakasha anymore?
The Tsubaki own it now. Thieves.
Returns to the previous choices
What can you tell me about Arakasha?
We're the most powerful clan in Aruden. We've been here longer than anyone else - especially the Empire.
What is a Moon Crystal?
It's a stone that gives off a strange energy in moonlight. Reacts weird with all sorts of things - especially highly reactive substances - like the beacon's Fuel Crystals.
Returns to the previous choices
What's the Arohari Temple?
A sacred site, perched high in the Craigs - land that once belonged to the Arakasha. And by all that’s just, it still should.
It was a great complex in its day - well before my time. As with many shrines in Gan, it was devoted to the Arohari, a bird of rare beauty and sharper temper.
Returns to the previous choices
[Refuse] No, this is more than I expected. I'm out.
Well ... that's a real shame. Because you've definitely heard too much, Haicho ... you were supposed to be my lucky number eight.
Oh well.
- Starts combat
If the replacement parts and the courier are at the bottom of a lake, why do we have to blow it up?
The conversation forks on the graph-variable check:
If False
It's only a matter of time before someone finds those parts or sends for new ones.
We could throw every last crate into the sea - it wouldn’t change a thing. There’s too much gold sunk into that beacon for them to let it stay broken.
It needs to be wiped from existence.
Returns to the previous choices
If True
You found them, did you not? In the end, that's what matters.
What problems did you run into?
It started out right. I broke into the cellar, hoping I could overload the fuel pump. Waited here after - but nothing came of it.
As I was packing to head back to the Plains of Gan, a storm rolled in. So I made use of the noise and caused a bit of havoc.
I returned to the beacon - I headed to the lantern room this time - and I smashed that Sazzi light into pieces.
It bought us a few days. But then old Sazzi sent for replacements. I had to track the courier coming down from Ishgana - he had everything locked up tight in a strongbox.
I spent the better part of a quarter-hour trying to break the damned thing open.
Then I saw torchlight in the distance. With little choice - I had to ditch both courier and cart over the side of the bridge.
Returns to the previous choices
Wait - who's this other guy?
Who, me?
This here is Rak.
Originally this was planned to be carried out by him and myself. We tried ... and things didn't go as planned. We can't risk being seen again.
That's where you come in.
Returns to the previous choices
Why are you calling me 'Haicho'?
As I'm sure you're aware, it's the Karu word for 'eight'.
The first seven Kawamoku I asked tucked their tails between their legs and ran - but not you, Haicho.
You're our lucky number eight.

- Changes a variable of something the compendium does not publish
How did you obtain those beacon parts you have?
I found them in a lake.
Ah ... as I suspected then ...
I went to no small trouble ensuring that shipment never reached its mark ... and now you’ve dredged it up from the lake. Why?
Why would you want to get rid of the parts?
Because the beacon must not get repaired - no one can know the parts reached Akaga.
That's all I can say for the time being.
Now - my question. What compelled you to dredge that up and bring it here.
Returns to the previous choices
I saw that the beacon was damaged. I thought these parts could help.
That's what I was afraid of, Viasha. You don't know what you're doing.
Take my advice - stay out of it.
I don't even know who you are.
The conversation forks on the graph-variable check:
If True
No, you know me. You tried pestering me before - but that's not the point.
the merchants may cheer your handiwork, but mark my words: to mend the beacon is to bring great harm upon the greater part of Akaga.
This is how most in Akaga feel?
I assure you, it is.
Akaga’s always been a fishing village - long before the Empire showed up.
Then they built their damned port and that cursed beacon. Ships swarming in day and night, scaring off every last fish in the bay.
Now the fishermen row farther out every season - straight into deeper, more dangerous waters.
And the beacon? It’s dragging in outsiders by the dozen. Theft’s up. Fights in the alleys. Why do you think House Tsubaki posted guards?
That Sazzi eyesore has brought nothing but trouble. If I had my way, it’d be rubble at the bottom of the bay.
I hear where you're coming from - but I'll have to think on it.
If you come to your senses, I'll be at the Viridian Flame Inn.
Watch what you say. Arakasha are a powerful clan - and unless you’ve got proof, your word means nothing.

I can see how a port would disturb a fishing community. How do we get rid of the beacon?
Before I say more - Are you with me? Do you truly want to see that beacon gone for good?
I'll at least hear your plan.
- Triggers an event in Dying Light
I’ll admit it - you’ve surprised me. I still have my doubts, but this? This is a damn good start.
Ogobi Hill. It’s quiet, out of the way - across the bay from the beacon. Meet me there, and we’ll lay out the next steps.
I'll mark it on your map. See you there.

I was tasked with repairing it, and that's what I intend to do.
Fine. It’s always the self-righteous ones - charging in like they’ve got the moral high ground.
You don’t even see how twisted your path really is ... or maybe you do. Maybe you’re just another vulture pretending to be a savior.
If I were you, I’d keep my head on a swivel.
- Changes how the speaker feels about the player
The conversation ends
You're mad!
Keep your voice down. No one here needs to see your little performance.
I'll take that as another 'no' from another Sazzi sympathizer.
You’d do well to sleep with one eye open, Viasha.
The conversation ends
If you want it gone so bad, why don't you do it?
Let’s just say I had my shot - and it didn’t go the way I hoped.
Since then, I’ve been waiting for someone from outside. Someone with no ties, no loyalties to get in the way.
Returns to the previous choices
If False
You don't need to know who I am yet. You just need to listen to what I have to say.
I thought repairing the beacon would be met well by the village.
Look well, Viasha - the merchants may cheer your handiwork, but mark my words: to mend the beacon is to bring great harm upon the greater part of Akaga.
Why's that?
I was exploring - I didn't even know what they were.
Truly?
*The elf massages his temples.* Of all the dumb luck ... *He pauses, then looks up - sharp-eyed, suddenly intrigued.*
Perhaps I can utilize that luck ...
Tell me - how’d you like to help me see that beacon destroyed for good? I’ll see to it you’re well paid for the trouble
I thought the people of Akaga would want the beacon repaired.
Viasha, to bring those parts up the hill would be to turn your back on Akaga. Those who would gain from it may live here, but their hearts are not rooted in this land.
This is how most in Akaga feel?
I assure you, it is.

[Lie] I'm a courier. I'm delivering these parts to the beacon keeper.
Save the theatrics. I know full well the means by which you acquired them.
It's not your business how I got these parts.
Enough. Listen well, Viasha - I know exactly where you found those parts.

Now, [player] - now, the fish come back. Now families sleep sound through the night.

Any advice on how I can get into the cellar?
Well I saw you and the old Sazzi being all friendly before I confronted you at the port.
Maybe you can use that relationship to him. He must have a key on him somehwere - he is the keeper.

That worked for a while, but then the old Sazzi had to go and try fixin' the thing.
Rak and I had to intercept the courier at some lake. Had the damned parts in a strongbox. In the process of breaking it open, we saw torch lights in the distance.
We decided to cut our losses and dumped his whole cart in the lake -whatta' disaster ...
