*You approach the stranger. He seems shaken up about something.* Oh, greetings. What is it you want?
Only after the player has spoken to the speaker
Oh. You again. What can I do for you?
What the player can raise (3)
The game offers every topic whose requirement is met, in the order it prefers them.
Who are you?
I'm [npc], an explorer... well, a novice explorer, at least. I don't have much experience yet.
The conversation ends
You seem nervous.
I was robbed on my way into town the other night. They came out of nowhere just before I entered Akaga. There was a storm, I didn't hear them approach.
They made me emtpy my entire purse. Good thing I always keep a few coins tucked into my boots, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford a room here.

There weren't any guards posted that close to town?
No, there weren't. I was stalling the robbers, hoping the town guard would notice, but nobody came. Bastards had free reign to rule me blind.
Surprised me, to be honest. From what I heard, the Sazziads are pumping a lot of coin into Akaga to expand its infrastructure. They're even paying for its security - allegedly.
Either somebody is embezzling the funds, or it's an unfounded rumor, because I certainly didn't see any guards nearby. If you invest in guards, why keep the road into town unguarded?

What did they take?
They took all my money - damned near all of it, anyway. Nothing to do about it, so I'm told. Probably took a passenger ship out of the port the very night it happened, never to be seen again.

Have you reported it to the authorities?
I did, but they told me there's nothing to be done. They probably left already, either by booking passage on a ship, or heading back out down the road. No way to catch them, say the guards. Makes me wonder what they get paid for.
I'm sorry for your troubles.
It's kind of you to say so. I just wish I'd have had a blade on me. Didn't expect the roads to be this unsafe here, in the middle of civilization.
The conversation ends
You should never walk the roads at night unarmed.
Believe me, I didn't mean to. I thought I had enough daylight to make it to Akaga from Ishgana. I knew a storm was rolling in, and I wanted to lodge in a proper inn.
The Wind Wizards of Ishgana are a fine people, but they seemed on edge and I didn't want to sleep in a yurt on such a stormy night.
The conversation ends
Goodbye.
The graph connects this choice to nothing, so the conversation stops here.
