Dialogue
A Lantern for the Sea
- Greeting Let us begin.
- Greeting By the spirits, what's wrong with you outsiders?! Eating their sacred offering is an insult to the sea-spirits! Better pray they have a sense of humor, or you'll be sorry the next time you take a swim!
- Greeting I hope the spirits answered your call, as it did mine. *She looks closely at you* You almost seem... different somehow. Perhaps it is a trick of the light.
- Greeting Greetings, dear stranger - I saw you come from that cave. Did you see any jellyfish in there? Blue ones that glow like little lamps.
- Greeting Oh, it's you. Come to play another trick on the spirits? Better watch yourself the next time you take a swim...
- Topic Jellyfish? Why do you ask - are you worried I got poisoned?
- Topic I found the jellyfish you were looking for. Blue, glowing. Found it in a nearby cave.
Between a rock and a hard place
- Greeting No… no! You’ve spilled its blood! The sea-spirits will never forgive this.
- Greeting Did you see it… flying home? The sea-spirits must be smiling upon us this day.
- Greeting You’ve cleared the path without wounding it. Yet look at it now… so small. The sea would crush it - yes, crush the poor thing.
- Greeting My husband never returned from the sea, yet still I give offerings. The spirits give and take as they will. If you mean to remove the Beast, do so kindly - coax it back to the waves, don’t wound it.
- Greeting I heard a crack like thunder from the food store.
- Greeting You brought the ceiling down and took our stores with it. You’ll not be forgiven - not here, where every grain is counted.
